This program provides support to proactive animal care and control agencies working to increase owner reunions in their communities. We offer small grants for equipment and training related to missing pet prevention and recovery.
We asked shelters what they need most. Some do not have enough scanners to go around, or they have scanners at the shelter but not in the field. One of our first grants was to the Young-Williams Animal Center in partnership with Knox County and the City of Knoxville. They now have scanners in the ACO trucks so found pets can be quickly reunited with their people.
A collar and tag should be placed on every dog being reclaimed by an owner if they don't already have one. They can be purchased inexpensively, but in a high-volume shelter like Maricopa County Animal Care & Control with an intake of 30,000+, the cost adds up. We provided MCACC with a bulk order of collars to help keep reunited dogs in their homes.
We can't continue this program without your help. DONATE today to help us help shelters get missing pets back in their loving homes where they belong.
